I am a firm believer that every single person in the world is capable of learning something new. Even if someone is an expert in something, they can, and should, still take up any opportunity to learn about something else. Whether this be completely new knowledge or old knowledge that hasn’t been used for a while, engaging in learning can only help people become more well-rounded, and provides them with the resources required to make educated decisions in life. When I was a child, I thought my teacher’s knew EVERYTHING; I thought you could ask them anything and they would know the answer. Of course, I now know that is not the case. It’s impossible to know everything, but what is possible is saying “YES!” and making the conscious effort to participate in these learning opportunities. Part of my commitment as a teacher is to continue to learn and grow, just like my students.
